Wow, a fantastic bag is coming your way this week! We’ve got celery and long beans from Ho Farms, corn from Waimanalo Country Farm, slicing tomatoes from Green Growers, papaya from Frankie’s Nursery, and crispy hydroponic lettuce from 808 Fresh! I’m excited…can’t wait to make a stir fry with the long beans and some salads with celery, lettuce, tomatoes…or try out these recipes and let us know what you think.
Braised Celery would be great alongside some steak or with pulled pork sandwiches!
Celery Stir Fry from a Japanese Farm Cookbook…steam fish or tofu to go with this!
Celery Salad with Walnuts and Parmesan
Corn, roasted in oven I actually just started doing this but slightly different, based on advice from Nan Geller (Free Range Gourmet), you can actually roast the corn at a higher temp (425) and only for about 10 minutes or so. You will smell it when it’s done! You don’t need to remove the leaves or silk either, both will come off easily after roasting.
Bon apetit local food patrons–please enjoy this week’s produce–tomatoes from Punalu’u, long beans and celery from Kahuku, papaya, corn, and lettuce, all locally grown in Waimanalo!
