Mangosteen

MANGOTEEN

Mangosteen is an exotic, tropical fruit with a delicious sweet and slightly sour flavor. The fruit is sometimes referred to as purple mangosteen because of the deep purple color rind that develops when ripe. Mangosteen is viewed as a relatively obscure fruit but it can offer many health benefits due to its rich supply of nutrients, fiber, and unique antioxidants. Mangosteen is low in calories yet provides many essential nutrients such as fiber, protein, and Vitamin C.

Mangosteen is easy to prepare and eat! The inner flesh is white and very juicy when ripe. This part of the fruit can be eaten raw or added to smoothies or tropical fruit salads for a delicious boost of flavor.

Tomatillos

The tomatillo also known as the husk tomato, is a plant of the nightshade family. The plant bears small, spherical, green or greenish/purple fruit.

Tomatillos look very much like green, unripe tomatoes. They are wrapped around with a dry, leafy husk. The color of the fruit is a beautiful bright green, which fades a bit once you cook them. These fruits have a slightly more acidic, a little less sweet flavor than traditional tomatoes. The flavor is more generally vegetal and the interior texture is denser and less watery than a tomato.

Prepping a tomatillo is very easy! The husks can be easily removed with your hands and discarded. Be sure to do a  quick rinse under warm water. There are many ways to enjoy tomatillos. They can be enjoyed raw, cooked with your favorite dishes, roasted, grilled or sautéed.

Thai Watermelon

The Thai Watermelon is a popular variety in China, Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia. This delicious melon is oval shaped with a striped, thin skin, averaging 6-8 pounds each. The flesh is denser than a Sangria, bright red with black seeds.
