Aloha Oahu Freshers!!
Hope you had a great weekend and didn’t get too wet from the rains. Some of our farms were flooded pretty badly, but should be able to recover quickly! This week we will be getting carrots again which I hope everyone is enjoying! Growing carrots is extremely hard, especially growing them organically so we’re super stoked that Kahumana Organic Farms has been having their summer bumper harvest!
In this week’s bag we have!!
Butternut Squash from Ho Farms
Cherry Tomatoes from Ho Farms
Mixed Aquaponic Lettuce from Mari’s Garden
Kale from Ho Farms
Cosmic Carrots from Kahumana Organic Farms
Avocados from Kamaaina Plants
Now what to cook with all of these great items in your bag? Here’s some ideas from us, but please let us know if you have any great recipes of your own!!
Butternut Squash Chipotle Chili with Avocado – this is a great vegetarian dish, but the great thing about vegetarian dishes is that its easy to turn it into a carnivore dish by just adding ground beef!
Oven Roasted Carrots and Kale – super easy side dish to create that adds flavor if you’re not a huge fan of the slightly natural bitter flavor of kale!
Tomato Chicken Lemongrass – add some flavor to that boring chicken breast!!
