Pomelo Couscous

Filled with chunks of pomelo, refreshing mint, and savory fried shallots, this dish can be served alongside fish or tofu or as a light meal on its own.

This Week’s Bag Features Pomelo! 2/17-2/18

This week’s bag features pomelos! Don’t be intimidated by the pomelo; this super-sized citrus is one of the most under-appreciated products from Oahu’s local farmers. Once you cut through that distinctly thick textured rind, pomelos are like a mild version of grapefruit: they’re sweet, but don’t have the bitter taste of other citrus fruits. Try the pomelo recipes below that we picked out, and check out what else is in this week’s bag!

This Week’s Bag Featuring Red Potatoes! 2/10-2/11

This week’s bag features red potatoes! The potato was first domesticated in the region of modern-day southern Peru and extreme northwestern Bolivia between 8000 and 5000 BC. It has since spread around the world and become a staple crop in many countries. Potatoes are generally cool-weather crops, but can thrive in warmer climates if planted at the right time and conditions. The red potato is smaller than the familiar “Russet” variety, has a thinner skin, contain less starch, and hold their shape better during cooking. Check out this week’s bag and celebrate some other staple veggies we are lucky to have growing locally!

This Week’s Bag Featuring Chioggia Beets! 2/3-2/4

This week’s bag features chioggia beets! These can be prepared just like any other variety, but the candy stripe beet is known for having an especially sweet flavor—and it doesn’t ‘bleed’ as much as regular beets, meaning you don’t have to worry about bright red beet juice staining your fingers and clothes. Let us know if you think it tastes as good as it looks! What else is in this week’s bag?
