This Week’s Bag Featuring Red Potatoes! 2/10-2/11

February 9, 2016 by Justine Espiritu Leave a Comment

This week’s bag features red potatoes! The potato was first domesticated in the region of modern-day southern Peru and extreme northwestern Bolivia between 8000 and 5000 BC. It has since spread around the world and become a staple crop in many countries. Potatoes are generally cool-weather crops, but can thrive in warmer climates if planted at the right time and conditions. The red potato is smaller than the familiar “Russet” variety, has a thinner skin, contain less starch, and hold their shape better during cooking. Check out this week’s bag and celebrate some other staple veggies we are lucky to have growing locally!

Let us know if you think it tastes as good as it looks! What else is in this week’s bag?
